Job Description
The Rockefeller Foundation is seeking a Summer Associate for its Power & Climate team. This hybrid internship, open to graduate students authorized to work in the U.S., focuses on supporting project management, conducting analyses, and advancing equitable energy transitions. The program runs for 11 weeks from June to August 2025, with a pay range of $30-$35 per hour. Strong analytical and communication skills are required.

Program Details
• This position is open to graduate students only.
• A cover letter is required.
• The 2025 summer program will run for 11 weeks from June – August 2025.
• This position will be based in New York City with either a hybrid or fully remote schedule. Students engaged in fully remote work must be based in the United States.
Pay Range: $30 - $35 hourly rate. This represents the present low and high end of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience. This is a non-exempt position and thus eligible for overtime pay.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Support project management for discrete projects that drive impact and performance in areas critical to the Power & Climate portfolio, in particular projects in the Coal to Clean portfolio.
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses to inform the implementation of the Power & Climate team’s strategy 2.0, as well as in support of team programmatic, policy, and research priorities.
• Drive the success of RF grantees working on Coal to Clean Solution projects, through co-creating and implementing joint delivery systems.
• Prepare background and briefing materials to inform strategic engagements and partnerships.
• Support the management of grantees, partners, and contractors to implement the Power & Climate strategy.
• Advance the P&C team’s thought leadership in advancing equitable energy transitions and ending energy poverty by partnering with the Communications lead, drafting blogs and other materials, and supporting principal-level global engagement.
Education, Experience, and Skills
• Currently enrolled in a graduate program in one of the following areas: sustainable energy, environmental policy, climate, international development or economics, public policy, business, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of energy access and energy transition challenges and opportunities
• Strong analytic, writing, and communication skills and ability to research new, potentially unfamiliar topics with limited guidance.
• Experience working in a range of teams and managing complex stakeholder environments.
• Experience delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working in global organizations and /or contexts is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with international processes, institutional landscape, and key players around SDG 7 and SDG 13 is strongly preferred.
• Must be collaborative and a proactive self-starter.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
