Job Description

About the position

The Climate Science Intern position at Sandia National Laboratories offers undergraduate students the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research alongside experts in climate science. Responsibilities
• Engage in modeling and understanding interactions between Earth's systems.

• Conduct analytical climate science activities including computer simulation and data inversion.

• Collaborate with mentors and team members to deliver impactful research results.

• Participate in technical seminars and facility tours to gain insights into various scientific disciplines.

• Present research findings at the end-of-year FORCEE symposium.

Requirements
• Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited undergraduate program in a science, engineering, or math major.

• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.

• Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer.

• Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Nice-to-haves
• Exceptional written, oral, and visual communication skills.

• Proficiency with modern computer languages such as PYTHON, R, MATLAB, C/C++, FORTRAN-XX, MPI, Jupyter, Julia.

• Experience with modular computer software development practices.

• Experience with laboratory and/or field procedures and protocols.

• Research documentation experience with laboratory notebooks.
