The University of Massachusetts - Medical School is seeking a part-time Intern for the Office of Sustainability. The role involves project-based tasks supporting environmental justice initiatives, community engagement, resource guide publication, and administrative support. GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the direct supervision of the assigned manager, the Undergraduate/Graduate Intern is responsible for project-based tasks to support the Office of Sustainability. Assigned projects will require basic analytical and communications skills.This is a temporary, non-benefitted role.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Engage the campus community with listening tours/relationship development with our campus community - students, staff, and faculty - to garner a shared definition of environmental justice.
• Publish a guide of EJ resources, tools for dialogue and action, sustainability offerings, and stakeholders at UMass Chan including a marketing and communications plan for the guide.
• Establish architecture/design for shared EJ resource guide including a content management/sustainability plan for the guide
• Identify environmental justice (EJ) populations, as defined by the state, are located within one and five miles of UMass Chan
• Develop an engagement plan for encouraging enhanced public involvement of EJ populations, specifically as it relates to campus development in alignment with MEPA, including developing a list potential community organization.
• Develop a framework for Environmental Justice Advisory Councils
• Coordinate and perform advanced administrative tasks
• Assist with the preparation of data for projects and studies; compile statistics as required or requested
• File, retrieve, collect, organize, manage, and distribute information from diverse internal and external sources
• Perform assigned project tasks within specified timeframes
• Perform other duties as required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's or Graduate degree candidate
• Related experience preferred
• Basic analytical and communication skills
• Attention to detail with the ability to collect and record information from a wide variety of sources
• Ability to use standard office tools and software (MS-Office)
• Must be reliable and able to set consistent work hours
