Job Description:

Sureway Construction Group Ltd. is a multi-faceted organization which includes extensive sand and gravel land reserves held under the Sil Industrial Minerals and Yellowhead Aggregates corporate groups. Sil Industrial Minerals is seeking a full-time Intermediate Environment Coordinator. Reporting to the Land and Environment Manager, this position is responsible for the various duties associated with planning, permitting, compliance, monitoring and reclamation of our pit, plant and transload operations.

Schedule: 8 + Hours/day, Schedule as per Operational Requirements

Location: 9175 – 14 Street NW, Edmonton, AB - no direct access to public transportation

Requirements:
• Personal Reliable Vehicle
• CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support
• Clean Driver’s Abstract, Valid Driver’s License

Pre-employment:
• Drug and alcohol testing (swab-based test)
• Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation

Intermediate Environment Coordinator Responsibilities:
• Completion of provincial applications under EPEA, the Water Act, and Public Lands Act.
• Completion of county Development Permit Applications.
• Involvement and management of compliance and monitoring requirements associated with pit operations, including water sampling, piezometer measurements, air/noise monitoring, weed management, site inspections, pit dewatering tracking, and completion of annual reports for regulators.
• Plan, coordinate and support field work prior to, during, and following pit activities (e.g. pre-disturbance assessments, pit monitoring, reclamation assessments, etc.)
• Support the Land and Environment Team in other activities including, but not limited to, resource exploration and delineation, land maintenance and acquisitions, and public engagement activities.

Intermediate Environment Coordinator Qualifications:
• An undergraduate degree in biological, environmental, or agricultural sciences.
• Registered as, or eligible to become, a member-in-training with the Alberta Institute of Agrologists (AIT) or Alberta Society of Professional Biologists (BIT).
• Preference will be given to candidates with professional (P.Ag. or P.Bio.) designations.
• A minimum of 3 years of related environment industry experience.
• Relevant experience should include environmental site assessment programs, such as reclamation assessments, pre-disturbance assessments and wetland assessments.
• Experience with GIS software (ArcPro, etc.) and field data collection software (Survey123, etc.).
• Knowledge of Alberta Environment and Parks regulations and guidelines is an asset.
• Experience and knowledge of the mining/aggregate industry is an asset.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a high level of independence.
• Willingness to learn and grow as a professional.
• Detail oriented and organized.
• Strong communication skills, including technical writing ability.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary project team environment.
• Candidates must successfully complete Sil Industrial Minerals Orientation, Site Specific Orientation as well as any other fit-for-work testing.
