King & Wood Mallesons is hiring Innovation Analysts for ongoing casual positions in Victoria, Australia, suitable for 3rd year university students in Technology and law. The roles involve supporting the Innovation team, improving legal processes, and developing technology solutions. Candidates should have a logical mindset and a drive to succeed. Flexibility is offered for work hours, making it ideal for students balancing studies and work.
X2 ongoing casual positions - Approx 2 - 3 days per week - Flexibility given around exams

Role Detail

The legal industry is changing, and King & Wood Mallesons' innovation team are highly focused on delivering cutting edge technology, consulting and change programmes. At KWM we see innovation as change that has a positive impact. Innovation is important to KWM to ensure we have the capability in place to continue to help our clients be successful.

With the current Innovation Analysts moving into law graduate positions at the end of the year, these foundational roles act as the backbone of our digital team. You will proactively look to deliver value to clients in new areas to help grow new sources of revenue. You will be innovating to improve the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the way we deliver work, improving client and employee satisfaction and retention.

In this role you will support the Innovation team to assist the firm's practice teams to deliver process improvement and automation by designing and building legal technology solutions.

With flexibility to be Sydney or Melbourne based, key responsibilities will cover:

- Rewriting complex primary and secondary legal materials as flow charts
- Supporting the design and creation of new products to help our clients work smarter like KWM web-based apps which create documents or guide in making a determination
- Enjoying innovating to improve the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the way we deliver work, improving client satisfaction and retention
- Seeking to understand the gaps or barriers that prevent teams from accomplishing the jobs they need to get done
- Developing an understanding in our innovation process enabling you to work through the steps of scan, challenge, ideate, shortlist, experiment, implement and promote our innovation ideas

About You

You will bring a natural curiosity and logical way of thinking, underpinned by a drive to succeed. You will be looking to build a career in a top tier law firm, perhaps in the legal technology field.

You will also bring:

- Studying for a software engineering, IT or data science degree
- Law degree or studying for a law degree and/or experience in a law firm will be looked on favourably
- Knowledge and enthusiasm for legal technology or technology generally
- Proficiency working with large datasets
- A strong aptitude for technology, a proactive attitude towards learning new tools and technologies, and a willingness to collaborate with the development team to gain hands-on experience with Microsoft developer tools
- Excellent attention to detail with good written and verbal communication skills
- An adaptable and agile approach with an innovative mindset
- Ability to work with ambiguity
- Proficiency in process mapping techniques
- Effective planning and project management capabilities
