Duties and Responsibilities
(** Essential Functions)

Under general supervision of the ITG Manager, this position will be the lead and responsible for maintaining IT support services at the satellite campuses.

Provide excellent customer service for end-user support for troubleshooting workstations (PC/Macintosh), Local Area Networks (LAN), and voice over Internet Phones.

** Performs moderately complex installations and troubleshoots the use of Leeward-supported applications and clients, TCP/IP client installations (e.g., Telnet, VPN, FTP, Putty, web, and email clients, network setup, and connection).

** Identify, analyze, and resolve/troubleshoot device application problems. Escalate as necessary to ensure resolution.

** Troubleshoots and performs corrective measures to resolve simple to complex data, voice, and video network problems on a campus-wide and local area network levels.

Maintain performance reporting tools used to monitor infrastructure health and execute adjustments based on data driven decisions.

** Install, configure, and maintain Windows, Mac OS, Linux, and other operating systems for optimal performance.

** Serves as a lead technical consultant, providing comprehensive microcomputer support to non-technical staff and collaborating with systems, database, and network engineers to resolve complex infrastructure and connectivity issues.

** Prepares requisitions, invitations to bid, technical specifications or request for quotations for supplies, equipment and materials required for but not limited to, network installations, repairs and special projects.

**Performs preventive maintenance on networks including but not limited to: replacement of various types of low voltage communications cabling, equipment, reconfiguration of routers, switches, and/or other types of telecommunications equipment.

Regularly monitor relevant forums where job-related issues are announced and discussed to stay informed of related problems and issues as they appear and are reported and to keep current with professional expertise.

Develops and tests new ideas, techniques, and applications to increase job productivity and efficiency. Adapts written and printed documentation for electronic access and distribution, such as web-based access via PDF files or online knowledge base.

Provides hardware support such as installing network cards and reformatting hard disk drives when required, inventory, and e-waste.

Researches, recommends, supports, tests, and maintains microcomputer software applications that the faculty, staff, and students need to accomplish their daily tasks.


15.**Follows and implements directives and guidance related to best practices from University of Hawai'i System Information Technology Services.

**Ensures the consistent adoption, implementation, and enforcement of recommendations issued through University of Hawai'i System Information Technology Services.

**Keeps abreast of recommendations issued through University of Hawai'i System Information Technology Services and takes timely action as needed.

**Continuously monitor and lead initiatives to enhance system reliability, security, and operational efficiency. Supervise and mentor IT staff to assure that administrative directives and industry best practices are understood and followed.

Perform lifting up to 40 lbs., moving, and other manual work.

Work assignments will include working outside normally scheduled work hours - day, night, weekend, and/or holiday hours, as directed, at various sites of Leeward CC.

Other Duties as Assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a pertinent baccalaureate educational degree in Computer Science, Management Informations Systems, or related field and 3 years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience with responsibilities for user technical support and consultation, of which 2 years of the experience must have been comparable in scope and complexity to the next
