Imani Village is seeking a professional individual to join the Imani Village Green Health Advocates (IGHA) team for our 22-week career development program. This paid position offers an exciting chance to contribute to both community health and conservation efforts on Chicago's South Side while gaining valuable hands-on experience, professional development, and leadership skills.

Conservation Health Advocate I will:
• Monitor and assess the health of local trees and green spaces
• Educate the community on the benefits of trees and nature
• Promote free tree programs and conservation services
• Collaborate on strategies to improve the health of the environment and local communities
• Work alongside community health advocates to link health and environmental strategies

Cross-Training Opportunity!

As part of this program, Conservation Health Advocates will occasionally work with Community Health Advocates, and vice versa. This provides an enriching experience where you'll gain interdisciplinary insights and broaden your skill set. Be prepared to get your hands dirty and work outdoors, even if you're primarily a community health advocate, and get involved in health outreach initiatives if you're a conservation advocate!

Key Responsibilities Include:
• Engaging with the community to raise awareness on environmental and health issues
• Working outdoors in diverse conditions, including tree planting and community health assessments
• Speaking in front of small groups, sharing knowledge with peers, and the community
• Collaborating with local organizations, including health care providers and environmental groups
• Documenting activities, progress, and outcomes of the program

What We’re Looking For:
• A passion for working outdoors, engaging with diverse communities, and contributing to positive change
• Strong interest in both conservation and community health, with a willingness to learn about both areas
• Ability to speak in front of groups and engage in educational activities
• Enthusiasm for working as part of a team while also being able to work independently
• Young Professional, with a high school diploma or equivalent, and living in or near the South Side of Chicago

Program Requirements and Schedule:
• Must be available for the full 22-week program (June 9 – November 14, 2025)
• Work schedule will be 35 hours/week, with some flexibility for weekends and evenings occasionally
• Travel required to off-site locations within the community (transportation not provided)
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, rain, etc.)
• Background checks required for health advocates
