About the position
The Hydrologist position at the National Park Service in Fort Collins, CO, involves leading and participating in hydrologic studies of significant complexity. Responsibilities
• Leads, designs, and conducts comprehensive hydrologic investigations.

• Provides expertise in surface water hydrology, river hydraulics, and sediment transport.

• Acts as a liaison between the NPS and other agencies such as the US Geological Survey and US Fish and Wildlife Service.

• Makes recommendations to management regarding river, floodplain, and water rights issues.

• Assists with policy development and reviews proposed laws affecting NPS water resources.
Requirements
• U.S. Citizenship required.

• Degree in physical or natural science, or engineering with at least 30 semester hours in relevant courses.

• At least one year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-11 level in the Federal service.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.

• Knowledge of federal and state water rights regulations.

• Familiarity with river restoration techniques.
