About the position

The Hydrologic Scientist I position at the Utah Division of Water Rights offers an opportunity to contribute to the management of water resources in Utah. Responsibilities
• Create, implement, and monitor quality control procedures for water diversion and use data.

• Coordinate with staff, distribution systems commissioners, water users, and water districts on data quality matters.

• Assist the Water Use Program Manager in collecting data and updating service area boundaries.

Requirements
• Background in water management, hydrology, and water data.

• Experience in data management and software, with an understanding of statistics, hydrology, geology, and water management.

Nice-to-haves
• Bachelor's or master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources, Hydrology, or Watershed Sciences.

• Working knowledge of major river systems and Utah's water rights system.

• Strong communication skills and comfort in various group settings.
