Job Description
SMEC is seeking a Hydraulic Design Engineer for dams, barrages, and hydropower projects in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The role involves hydraulic modeling, flow analysis, and design of hydraulic structures. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Water Resources, with 5-12 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in software like HEC-RAS and Flow-3D is required. The position is full-time and involves client interaction and site visits.
Job Purpose:
We are looking for an experienced Hydraulic Design Engineer to support the design and execution of complex hydraulic structures in dam, barrage, and hydropower projects. The role involves working on hydraulic modeling, flow analysis, spillway and energy dissipation design, and related civil-hydraulic systems to ensure optimal, safe, and sustainable water infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform hydraulic design and analysis for dams, barrages, spillways, intake structures, tunnels, and powerhouses.
• Conduct hydraulic modeling (1D/2D/3D) using tools like HEC-RAS, Flow-3D, MIKE11/21, ANSYS CFD, etc.
• Design of energy dissipation arrangements including stilling basins, flip buckets, and plunge pools.
• Analyze river behavior, sediment transport, flood routing, and reservoir operation simulations.
• Coordinate with structural and geotechnical teams to integrate hydraulic requirements into project design.
• Review and validate technical drawings, BOQs, reports, and design documentation.
• Ensure compliance with IS codes, BIS, CWC, MoWR, and other relevant standards and guidelines.
• Provide inputs for feasibility studies, DPRs, tender documents, and client presentations.
• Participate in field investigations, data collection, and site visits as needed.
• Interact with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Water Resources (Master’s degree in Hydraulic or Water Resources Engineering preferred).
• 5–12 years of experience in hydraulic design of water infrastructure with a focus on dams, barrages, or hydropower projects.
• Strong command of hydraulic theory, flow dynamics, and hydrological analysis.
• Proficiency in software such as HEC-RAS, Flow-3D, MIKE series, AutoCAD Civil 3D, STAAD, MATLAB, etc.
• Familiarity with national and international standards (IS, USBR, ICOLD, BIS, etc.).
