About the Role:

We are building a pipeline of highly skilled Hybrid Energy Systems Engineers to support forthcoming hybrid energy projects across South Africa. While this is not an active vacancy at present, we are proactively sourcing talented engineers with expertise in multi-technology system design and integration to engage on exciting upcoming projects with leading OEMs.

Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate on the design and optimization of hybrid energy systems combining solar PV, wind, and battery storage to prepare for project initiation.
• Develop energy system models and simulations using tools such as PVsyst, HOMER Pro, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, or similar.
• Assist in control strategy design for EMS, SCADA, and PLC interfaces to ensure smooth integration and operational readiness.
• Support grid compliance efforts by familiarizing with South African grid codes (NRS 097-2-3) and Eskom interconnection requirements.
• Contribute to feasibility studies, technical proposals, and cost optimization exercises in preparation for upcoming tenders.
• Prepare to analyze system performance data and implement optimization techniques as projects advance.
• Engage with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless handover from design to execution phases when projects commence.

Qualifications & Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Experience in designing and modelling hybrid renewable energy systems is highly desirable.
• Proficient in PVsyst, HOMER Pro, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP or similar tools.
• Understanding of BESS sizing, EMS/SCADA/PLC integration, and battery technologies.
• Familiarity with South African grid codes and Eskom processes is advantageous.
• Strong analytical skills and experience with Python, MATLAB, or Power BI preferred.
• Ability to work proactively in a fast-evolving market and support early project stages.
