We’re currently looking for a Human Resource Specialist at our Huhtamaki Plant in Waterville, Maine. We support our employees through strong HR practices, fair policies, and a culture built on collaboration and continuous improvement. We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive HR Specialist to join our team.


What you’ll be doing


The HR Specialist provides day-to-day support to employees and managers on a wide range of HR functions:



Recruiting
Onboarding
Benefits Administration
Training support
Compliance




JOB SUMMARY:


The primary function of the HR Specialist is to assist the Human Resources Manager in administering various human resource programs, including, but not limited to: Attendance, Discipline, Employee Relations, Compensation, Records Retention, Benefits, Worker’s Compensation, Short and Long Term Disability, Recruitment, policies and procedures, Employee Opinion survey administration, communications, retirement preparation, and company events for all employees while ensuring compliance with applicable Federal and State labor laws.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



Absenteeism
Insurance Claims and issues (STD, Life Ins., medical/dental, annual enrollments, etc.)
Employee record keeping and filing (seniority, pay, addresses, benefits, etc.)
Responsible for insurances, billing, etc. for all hourly retirees
Maintain Internal Bidding system for hourly employees
Hiring – Full-time /Seasonal (job advertisement, orientation, Workday, UKG, benefits, background checks, etc.)
Headcount reporting
End of month reporting for PACE union and salaried and corporate headcount
Provide Negotiations support.
Affirmative Action Plan data gathering and reporting
Mass Mailings to employees and retirees regarding benefits, etc.
Other duties as assigned

What you’ll bring to the role


MININIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS:



3-5 years’ experience in Human Resources
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or relevant experience.
Administrative and clerical – 5 years
Microsoft Office Software – demonstrated proficiency
Communications Skills – Manufacturing Environment




ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:



Good communication skills, verbal, non-verbal and written
Must be organized and be able to work on their own
Ability to prioritize
Multi-tasking skills
Confidentiality
Ability for maintaining accuracy while dealing with numerous interruptions
Requires lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs. on a regular basis and occasionally up to 25 lbs.
