Horticulture Greenhouse Technician

Tropex is hiring a Horticulture Greenhouse Technician in Estero, FL. The role involves plant maintenance, installation projects at client locations, and greenhouse upkeep. We are looking for a detailed Greenhouse Technician and Project Installer who will assist our Customer Service Manager in performing all the tasks established in the green house and our clients in the most efficient manner.

This is a diverse role position within our company. It involves installation of new accounts at our client's locations, installation of remodels of plants at their locations, assisting in projects at our office location, maintaining plants at our local greenhouse, as well as helping to maintain plants at our clients location, and sometimes helping other staff members in doing plant maintenance at different locations, maintenance of plants and the equipment around our Greenhouse, and many other plant related tasks that help us run our Greenhouse and assist our technicians.

Some of the Job Functions include:
• Responsible for prepping plants prior to loading into truck, loading plants, containers, supplies in the truck carefully. Checking relevant paper work to ensure preparedness for the job
• Delivering to the job site and unloading, trimming and removing dead foliage.
• Responsible for accurately scanning of plants and containers into the account through our electronic system.
• To maintain our Vehicles in a clean and safe operational condition getting maintenance occasionally.
• Responsible for prepping plants prior to loading onto truck
• Responsible in maintaining proper tools and consumable supplies
• Deliver to job site and unload, ensure plants and containers are clean (Trim and remove dead foliage)
• Responsible for final cleaning, sweeping floors, walkways and around the vehicle after the installation or when plants are pulled from an account
• Helping take care of plants at the greenhouses as needed
• Responsible to travel to plant suppliers within Florida to pick up plants for our Greenhouse at times.

Qualifications:
• Valid Florida driver's license.
• This position is physically demanding and requires the applicant to be able to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis as well as function in a physical position such as standing, stooping, bending, turning, twisting, walking, kneeling, squatting and climbing ladders.
• Able to work in environmental conditions of cold, hot, wet and humid conditions- this position involves outdoor and indoor work.
• Ability to properly use essential tools (but not limited) to Shovels, Shears, Rakes, Hand and power Sprayers, etc.

Preferred Experience/Skills:
• Gardening or horticultural work, which involves plant maintenance; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
• Knowledge of botany or horticulture, or agriculture, or plant maintenance techniques.
• Physical Requirements:
• Sitting less than 1/3 of day
• Standing/Walking regularly over 2/3 of day
• Talking/Hearing regularly over 2/3 of day
• Reaching regularly up to 2/3 of day
• Use of hands to finger, handle or feel frequently over 2/3 of day
• Lifting occasionally up to 50 pounds
• Climbing 10 foot ladders
