Job Description
Ag Jobs is seeking a Full-Time Horticultural Technician in St Simons Island, GA. The role involves caring for indoor plants, installing and maintaining floral arrangements, and requires at least 3 years of experience in horticulture. Candidates must have a high school diploma, knowledge of plant identification, and a pesticide license. Responsibilities include monitoring plant health, maintaining cleanliness, and engaging with guests. Flexibility in working hours is required.
Basic Job Function
High visibility position Caring for our live indoor container plantings, throughout the Resort. Proper installation and correct horticultural care by means of watering, deadheading, and pruning. Creating, installing, and maintaining Orchid compositions and Holiday floral arrangements.
Use of Company Vehicle: Designated to Drive a Company Vehicle
Minimum Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent credentials. Degree in Horticulture preferred.
• Knowledge of plant ID, including annuals, perennials, small trees, and palms required.
• Training in greenhouse management, including managing growing conditions and climate control.
• Must have a pesticide license or obtain the correct licensing for greenhouse management within 6 months
• Demonstrates the proper techniques for planting and maintenance of interior plant material.
• Experience with proper color and texture combinations.
• Consistently demonstrates good communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Must be able to report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed and in compliance with company Dress Code Policy
• Hard working, reliable and the desire to learn and grow with the company.
• Candidates must be in good health and able to lift at least 50 lbs., able to work outside in summertime temperatures and light rain.
Tasks/Responsibilities:
• Must act in an appropriate and professional manner, you will be in contact with guest, members and retail clients.
• Ability to identify healthy from unhealthy plant material.
• Monitor container moisture levels and water containers as needed on a scheduled basis.
• Groom plants, remove overgrowth, yellowing, browning or damaged foliage and or spent blooms.
• Keep containers clean, be sure containers are not leaking check after each service.
• Keep a log of where all containers are placed, take pictures, they are moved around for events, photo shoots etc. be certain they are in their proper places.
• Containers must be kept planted and can never be left empty, nor can they be left with dead or dying plant material.
• Greenhouse- Keep it clean and organized and be sure all plant material is adequately watered and maintained throughout each week.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of current guest services, activities, dining options, shops, local attractions, and historical information regarding Sea Island and the surrounding area to answer any questions guests may have to the best of one's ability.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization in all work areas.
• Uphold appropriate departmental standards of quality/timing.
• Uphold and ensure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures.
• Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately.
• Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.
• Willing and timely execution of other duties as delegated by leadership.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, stand, sit, balance, reach, bend, push, pull and walk for prolonged periods.
• Normal dexterity of hands and fingers along with coordination, including eye-hand, hand-foot.
• Must have the ability to work for extended time periods in an outdoor environment, including sun, heat, cold, wind, rain, and higher than normal noise levels.
• Ability to lift, carry, pull and push up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout a shift.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
• May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical and fume hazards.
• No visible tattoos, visible body piercing or unnatural hair color or hairstyles per company grooming standards.
