Job Description

The Healthy Homes and Transportation Coordinator at Healthy Climate Wisconsin is a part-time position based in Madison, WI. The role involves promoting climate and health solutions, coordinating with a volunteer team of health professionals, and engaging with community stakeholders. Responsibilities include advocacy, relationship building, event planning, and educational outreach. Candidates should possess strong communication skills, be self-motivated, and have a genuine interest in social justice and public health.
This part-time role will focus on promoting climate and health solutions within homes and buildings, the transportation system (walking, biking, public transit), and community/city planning through collective powerbuilding. The coordinator will support a team of healthcare and public health professionals in Wisconsin focused on systems-level initiatives and projects.

Key Responsibilities
• Support, coordinate, and empower a volunteer team of health professionals in advocating for and implementing Healthy Homes and Transportation initiatives. This will include staying informed about relevant legislation and action opportunities, resource creation, facilitation, mentorship, skill building, training, and more.
• Establish and nurture relationships with diverse stakeholders, including local organizations, community groups, students, healthcare institutions, and more, to identify best practices and inclusive solutions.
• Write success stories that highlight inspiring examples of Wisconsin families or communities taking action to electrify their homes, or promote walking, biking, or public transit that improves health outcomes.
• Plan and host community and training events to raise awareness and educate health professionals and residents.
• Learn about current trends and developments to inform, develop, and build-out programming on healthy buildings and transportation.
• Develop expertise in relevant policy areas to improve outcomes
• Develop educational materials, web content, and resources for community outreach on Healthy Homes and Transit.
• Help build a more powerful, active, and cohesive organization through assisting in strategy building and other tasks, such as outreach or member recruitment/development.

• Inspires positivity and action by creating an energized space that empowers others to see their skills and embraces uncertainty through collective power.
• Displays a proactive approach to identifying areas for improvement and offers innovative solutions to overcome potential roadblocks.
• Has familiarity with remote working tools and a creative approach to technology.
• Curious to learn about new topics and willing to develop new skills. This includes admitting to areas of unfamiliarity and seeking out feedback from others.
• Familiarity with rural stakeholders, challenges, and opportunities preferred.
• An innovator with experience adapting strategies as new challenges or opportunities arise.
• Experience with social justice, public health, or environmental issues or campaigns preferred.

This is a part-time (~20hrs/week), remote role for compensated at $23/hr. Healthy Climate Wisconsin offers paid leave for all federal holidays, in addition to paid sick and vacation packages. As a primarily remote role, hours and schedule can be flexible, but a few evening hours each month will be necessary to coordinate with volunteer health professionals. Remote roles also require long durations of computer time. Occasional in-person events and trainings will be important for building partnerships and organizational strategies.
