Job Description

Cummins Inc. is hiring a Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Technician in Pune, India. The role involves providing technical support for HSE management systems, maintaining confidentiality, reporting hazards, and participating in environmental management activities. Key responsibilities include conducting inspections, supporting corrective actions, and fostering HSE culture. Candidates should demonstrate competencies such as collaboration, communication, and resilience. This position is not remote and requires on-site presence.
Job Title: Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Specialist

GPP Database Link: Provides technical support on health, safety and environmental to production and site personnel under the guidance of the site HSE leader. Assists in the review and sustainability of Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems.

Key Responsibilities:
• Maintains skills and knowledge required to perform job duties.
• Builds an understanding of and applies HSE culture ensuring it is integral to processes.
• Maintains confidentiality and appropriate recordkeeping standards in line with corporate data protection and retention requirements.
• Does stop work and immediately reports any major injury hazards.
• Assists in reporting any work-related injury, illness, incident or hazard through internal reporting processes.
• Assists in closure of corrective and preventive actions.
• Supports the implementation and maintenance of hazard identification, incident investigation and risk assessment processes.
• Communicates effectively to create HSE awareness.
• Participates in environmental management activities.
• Performs basic administrative tasks as required.
• Checks participates in HSE inspection and audit programs.
• Gathers data for the analysis of HSE related trends.
• Achieves deliver on objectives and targets.
• Assists in maintenance of local HSE policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Supports health, safety, environmental and wellness initiatives.
• Participates in local employee engagement initiatives to drive an interdependent culture.
• Follower's all applicable standard work, process documentation and quality procedures.
• Raise's issues to minimize cost and quality exposures.
• Performs quality checks.
• Identifies and controls non-conforming material.
• Teamwork communicates effectively with the assigned team and with all support teams.
• Completes training and personal development in line with business requirements.
• Participates actively in ways to improve quality, safety, process, material flow, and employee development.

• Health, Safety and Environment Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis - Examines HSE incidents by completing quality, evidence based investigations with accurate root cause analysis, resulting in effective corrective actions, accurate reporting and avoiding repeated incidents.
• Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems - Interprets and applies international standards through practical application within the operating environment to achieve and maintain an effective management system and external certification.
• Risk Assessment - Evaluates hazards within the work environment by applying hazard identification and risk assessment techniques to analyze and prioritize risk, enabling a selection of control measures that reduce risk as low as reasonably practicable.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
• High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
• College, University or equivalent degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Management, or Sustainability preferred.

Experience:
• Requires some work experience or intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

Qualifications:
• HSE SPOC for Plant Engg and Shop Ops.
• Coordinator for IMS.
• Coordinator for FIFI.
• Coordinator for Non routine activities.
• Looking after Sunday/ shutdown activities.
• Coordination of Hoist and Crane PIV License.
