Description

We are looking for a talented Health, Safety and Environment Project Manager to join our team specializing in Health and Safety for Cummins, Inc. in Kansas City, MO.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
• Project Management: Direct project teams to establish goals, design project plans, develop timelines, identify milestones, and track performance. Manage project costs, risks, and resources, and communicate status to stakeholders.
• Employee Consultation: Consult with employees to develop and implement impactful programs, policies, and procedures. Coach employees and cross-functional teams based on feedback and observations.
• Risk Assessment: Interpret results from hazard identification and risk assessment programs to identify strategic risk improvement projects and compliance gaps.
• Performance Monitoring: Monitor and measure health, safety, and environmental performance metrics, legal compliance findings, and audit results to prioritize projects using a risk-based, data-driven approach. Manages development and maintenance of project related metrics.
• Training: Develop support materials for training, skills development, and internal communications related to projects. Provides training as required.
• Policy Development: Lead the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, tools, and resources for projects, ensuring they are up-to-date, controlled, and compliant with data privacy regulations.
• Lead Cross-functional teams: Lead cross-functional teams to implement innovative solutions to reduce risks. Use the plan, do, check, act methodology to drive continuous improvement throughout the site(s).
• Drive Positive Culture: Demonstrate and promote a positive health, safety, and environmental culture, coaching others to do the same.

Responsibilities

To be successful in this role you will need the following:
• Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems - Interpret and apply international standards within your operating environment to achieve and maintain an effective management system and secure external certification. Ensure that these standards are not just theoretical but are practically applied to daily operations.
• Influence the Health, Safety and Environmental Culture - Promote and model positive health and safety behaviors. Influence leaders and employees to foster a culture that prioritizes health, safety, and environmental responsibility. Work towards creating an environment where health and safety are integral to the organizational culture.
• Measurement and Evaluation of Health, Safety and Environment Performance - Collect and analyze data to create key performance indicators (KPIs). Use these KPIs to evaluate performance trends and set improvement goals. Use the insights gained from data analysis to inform strategic decisions and protect both employees and the environment.
• Risk Assessment - Identify and evaluate hazards within the work environment using hazard identification and risk assessment techniques. Analyze and prioritize risks and select control measures to reduce risks to as low as reasonably practicable.

Qualifications

.Education/Experience:
• College, university, or equivalent degree required. Occupational Health, Safety or Environmental degree preferred.
• Significant relevant experience required, including team leadership and project management. Experience with Industrial Safety Standards preferred. 5-7 years of experience.

Additional Responsibilities:
• Role is remote and can be located anywhere in the continental United States with access to a major airport.
• Role is ~40% travel.
• Preferred technical experience with Alternative Fuel platforms.
• Experience with risk assessments, risk control and risk mitigation.
• Strong understanding and interpretation of regulatory requirements, with emphasis in alternative fuels.
• Knowledge and experience with Management of Change (MOC) processes.
• Proficient in communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficient with data analytics and Microsoft applications.

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
