Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer based in Ibadan South East. The HSE Officer will plan, implement, and monitor health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures across offices, depots, and operational sites.


Responsibilities include conducting regular risk assessments, safety inspections, and audits, and ensuring compliance with relevant HSE laws, regulations, and company standards. The role involves organizing safety trainings and drills, maintaining accurate records of incidents and corrective actions, and promoting a strong safety culture among all employees and site visitors. The HSE Officer will also collaborate with management to develop and update HSE documentation, investigate accidents or near-misses, and recommend preventive measures to reduce risk and protect people, facilities, and the environment.


Qualifications

Proven experience in Health, Safety, and Environment management, including risk assessment, incident investigation, and implementation of HSE procedures.
Solid knowledge of Nigerian occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.
Strong skills in report writing, documentation, and record-keeping for audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance.
Effective communication, training, and presentation skills to engage staff at all levels on HSE topics.
Strong observational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a proactive approach.
Ability to work on-site, conduct field inspections, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
Relevant HSE certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) and a degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field are highly desirable.
Experience in a publishing, manufacturing, or logistics environment is an advantage, along with familiarity with emergency response planning and first aid.
