Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager
Full-time, Permanent
Location: Amite BioEnergy & Port of Baton Rouge

The HSE Manager will lead the overall management of safety, environmental, health, and compliance issues at the designated site. This position plays a vital role in partnering with the site leadership team to identify priorities and recommend solutions that align with our business objectives. Reporting directly to the Vice President of HSE, you will play an integral part in fostering a safety-first culture.

Promote a Safety First culture with a Zero Harm mindset.Support and implement company safety policies and procedures.Oversee risk assessments and ensure risk mitigation measures are in place before projects commence.Develop proposals for corrective and preventive measures and analyze incidents to improve safety.Set high personal standards and lead by example in the implementation of safety policies.Enforce the use of work safety permits across all sites as necessary.Ensure employees understand the safety, health, and environmental policies.Encourage teamwork and empower individuals at all levels.Foster an environment of continuous improvement based on data.Engage employees in safety discussions and maintain a hands-on management style.Implement effective emergency response protocols to prepare for incidents.Manage relationships with external parties such as OSHA and consultants.Maintain and report on safety statistics to highlight site performance.Drive continuous improvements in safety performance alongside the VP of HSE.Collaborate with site teams to develop risk assessments and operational procedures.Coordinate with various departments on health policy developments.Adhere to budgeted financial management for all safety activities.Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:

Minimum of 10 years in a safety management role.Bachelor's degree in safety/environmental sciences or related field preferred.1-2 years of experience in operations, maintenance, or engineering.A proven leader with excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization.Strong teamwork ethic with the ability to travel and respond to incidents as needed.Physical capability to climb ladders and work in various environments.Experience in conducting diverse training classes.Ability to mentor and inspire team accountability and high standards.Strong analytical skills with sound business understanding in the production sector.Capability to develop technical documents.OSHA certification is a plus.How We Act at Drax: Our culture is built on core beliefs that guide our actions:
