AGL Energy Limited is seeking a Head of Technology for its Energy Markets & Development division in Australia. The role focuses on developing a technology strategy to support the company’s goal of adding 12 GW of renewable generation by 2035. About the role: The purpose of the role is to provide thought leadership and innovation to the Commercial business unit with a focus on developing and delivering a technology strategy to ensure Commercial and AGL deliver on our ambition to add 12 GW new renewable generation and firming by the end of 2035, and seek options to accelerate where possible. AGL needs to digitise and innovate, leveraging data, AI/ML and other technologies to ensure we can meet or exceed our goals. This includes: Acting as an enabler and agent of change as AGL achieves its goal of being the countries’ largest renewable energy generator adding 12 GW of renewable generation, optimising investment in construction and acquisition of new assets. Driving and owning technology outcomes by partnering across Technology and Energy Markets & Development (EM&D) to deliver the EM&D strategy and roadmap. Supporting AGL’s Trading, Energy Development and Energy Hubs business through innovation and e2e responsibility for devops for all trading and data platforms Some of the things you’ll do are: Develop a Technology strategy aligned to the the EM&D Strategy and Digital Roadmap (working closely with Architecture) Champion the EM&D’s Technology team’s vision in conjunction with other Technology capabilities including Cyber, Architecture, Cloud & Infra, Enterprise Technology and CM to achieve required outcomes Build relationships, networks and expertise within the organisation and with partners, consultants and specialists in leading and emerging industries and markets Deliver across multiple agile scrum teams, including providing coaching and guidance to teams to improve: practice quality, speed-to-market and reduce the cost of IT delivery Develop both technical and people capability across platforms including: Trading, Bidding, Data, AI etc and new progressive ways of working with scrum, devops, experience design, etc. We’re looking for people who have: Relevant IT industry experience within complex technology operating environments Experience developing and executing functional IT strategic plans aligned with business strategies and the associated complex prioritisation required In-depth knowledge of Energy Trading business processes across front, middle, and back offices Experience in development and application of quantitative models to support asset intelligence and trading decision making In-depth understanding of the Australian wholesale energy markets including electricity, gas, and carbon trading Demonstrated experience developing and implementing enterprise data strategy Demonstrated success in deploying progressive ways of working At AGL, we offer a wide range of benefits including: Flexible working options including hybrid work.
