Uber is seeking a Head of Sustainability Policy in San Francisco, CA, to develop strategies that align with business objectives in electrification and packaging. About the Role

Uber's Head of Sustainability leverages their expertise in policy and regulatory landscapes to develop compelling narratives and strategies that advance our business objectives in electrification and packaging. In this role, you'll collaborate with Sustainability Product and Operations teams to guide investments and policies, incorporating external perspectives to enhance our initiatives. You'll empower regional Public Policy and Communications teams to create impactful campaigns and product launches aligned with Uber's long-term sustainability vision, while cultivating strategic relationships with external partners and influencing relevant regulations.

What You'll Do
• Business Acumen: Understand Uber’s business priorities, and how these impact our sustainability initiatives.
• Campaigns & collateral: Collaborate with research teams and third parties to quickly develop evidence-based deliverables telling Uber’s sustainability story in politically-relevant ways.
• Thought Leadership: Track public discourse on sustainability issues pertinent to Uber. Identify opportunities, risks, and strategic narratives in relation to our sustainability goals, support Public Policy and Communications teams in building confidence in Uber’s investments and debunking misconceptions.
• Regulatory & Crisis Response: Develop global advocacy strategies that align with Uber’s business priorities and support local teams to adapt and execute them locally.
• Policy counsel: Provide insights on political and regulatory trends to inform Uber’s product roadmap and design politically-aware go-to-market strategies.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships with aligned organizations and thought leaders. Make sure Uber is in the rooms that matter to advance our agenda.
• Team Management: Lead and support a team of experts in sustainability, supporting collaboration, performance, and professional growth.

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree, with 10+ years experience in public policy, advocacy, or government.

Preferred Qualifications
• Strategic vision for public policy impact with deep understanding of business priorities, product roadmaps and regulatory landscape.
• Proven executor with a bias towards action, proactively identifying opportunities and solving problems.
• Experience building evidence-based narratives that transform complex data and arguments into persuasive, accessible storytelling.
• Proven relationship builder with think tanks, non-profits, academia, and policy stakeholders.
• Demonstrated success collaborating across Public Policy, Comms, Marketing, Legal, Operations and Product teams to align strategies and amplify narratives
• Strong project management skills, delivering results under tight deadlines.
• Comfortable providing strategic policy counsel in often ambiguous situations, leveraging a deep understanding of the political and regulatory dynamics relevant to Uber.
• Demonstrated success in policy analysis or regulatory advocacy
• Advanced degree (e.g., JD, MPP, MBA)
• Prior management experience.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$186,000 per year - USD$207,000 per year.
