Squadron Energy seeks a Head of Portfolio Strategy and Analytics in Sydney, Australia. This role involves developing and refining the Portfolio Strategy, leading market forecasting, risk management, and performance tracking. The Role
The Head of Portfolio Strategy and Analytics will play a pivotal role in shaping Squadron Energy's strategic direction by developing and continuously refining our Portfolio Strategy.
This role requires a blend of strategic vision, analytical expertise, and the ability to collaborate across Business Units to align the Sales and Asset Portfolios with the overall portfolio goals.
You’ll also take the lead in market forecasting, risk management, and performance tracking, helping to position Squadron Energy as a leader in the energy market.
Key responsibilities:
• Lead the development and ongoing evaluation of the Portfolio Strategy, ensuring it aligns with both Sales and Asset Portfolios.
• Formulate the Energy Risk Management Policy and associated metrics, ensuring comprehensive assessment and mitigation of risks, including market volatility and regulatory changes.
• Provide quarterly market outlooks and perform forward curve analysis to identify market trends, offering valuable insights for strategic decision-making.
• Supervise the reporting and monitoring of wholesale market performance, risk metrics, customer performance, and financial analysis to ensure the portfolio's success.
• Collaborate closely with Development, Delivery, Sales, and Customer Solutions teams to integrate data-driven insights and strategies into the overall portfolio offerings.
• Identify and pursue opportunities for portfolio expansion, particularly focusing on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and peaking (firming) assets, and develop business cases for growth.
• Develop strategies to align the energy portfolio with market demand and customer preferences, ensuring both customer satisfaction and strategic objectives are met.
• Lead and mentor a team, fostering a high-performance culture and a positive work environment.
About you
You will have:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Energy Management, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in energy market analytics, portfolio strategy, and risk management within the energy sector.
• Proven track record in developing and executing successful energy portfolio strategies, with a solid understanding of market trends and regulatory changes.
• Expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, and performance tracking, with the ability to communicate complex data and insights to senior leadership.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
• A deep understanding of renewable energy markets, including BESS and firming technologies, is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving market conditions
