ACRWORLD seeks a Head of Grid – Renewables in Melbourne, VIC, to lead grid connection strategies for utility-scale renewable projects like wind and solar. With projects spanning wind, solar (PV), BESS and green hydrogen, they operate across development, construction, and asset management phases. About The Role As Head of Grid, you will play a pivotal leadership role in guiding and shaping the grid connection strategy for a growing portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects—including wind, solar PV, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)—across Australia and/or internationally. Drawing on your deep technical expertise in power systems studies, you will lead and grow a team of grid engineers to support projects through the development phase, ensuring timely and successful achievement of grid connection approvals. You will be responsible for overseeing and conducting complex power system analysis, managing multiple concurrent projects, and interfacing with key stakeholders such as AEMO, NSPs, consultants, and internal development teams. You will be responsible for managing external consultants and project managing their work across the portfolio of projects. This is a strategic, hands-on role well-suited to a technical leader who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of power systems engineers to support a growing development pipeline. Conduct and oversee detailed power systems studies (PSCAD, PSSE, DIgSILENT PowerFactory) for wind, solar and BESS projects. Lead grid connection strategy and stakeholder engagement with AEMO,TNSPs/DSNPs, consultants, and regulatory bodies. Ensure successful submission and management of GPS packages and R1/R2deliverables to achieve connection approvals. Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams (development, engineering,commercial) to align on project timelines and technical constraints. Manage external consultants, ensuring quality, budget, and timeline compliance. Track and manage multiple development-stage projects simultaneously,ensuring that grid-related risks are identified and mitigated early. Stay abreast of changes in regulatory frameworks, grid guidelines, andconnection processes across relevant jurisdictions. Represent the business in industry forums and working groups where appropriate. Skills & Qualifications Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; postgraduate qualifications in power systems is advantageous. 8+ years of experience in power systems studies and grid connection processes, ideally within the Australian NEM or other complex grid environments. Proven experience in projects that have received full grid connection approval. Hands-on expertise with tools such as PSCAD, PSS®E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory,and EMT studies. Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects andpriorities. Experience working in a developer, OEM, consultant, or NSP environment. Proven leadership capabilities with experience building or managing technicalteams. Excellent communication skills with a collaborative and solutions-focused mindset.
