Ocean to Earth Recruitment is proud to present this exceptional opportunity on behalf of our client – a pioneering business at the forefront of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG). They're transforming underused land into thriving ecosystems that deliver long-term value for nature, developers, and communities alike.

We're looking for a Head of Ecology to lead their growing team of ecologists, deliver cutting-edge BNG habitat banks, and help shape the next generation of UK conservation work.

The Role
• Lead the in-house ecology team and oversee project delivery across the country.
• Develop Habitat Management and Monitoring Plans, Biodiversity Gain Plans, and detailed ecological assessments.
• Mentor junior staff, oversee fieldwork, and ensure best-in-class practices.
• Liaise with DEFRA, Natural England, and LPAs to secure permits and maintain compliance.
• Drive ecological innovation and expand the business into new Natural Capital markets.

Requirements
• Full Member of CIEEM
• 10+ years of field and team leadership experience
• Deep understanding of BNG, UK ecological legislation, and the Statutory Metric
• Excellent botanical and habitat survey skills
• Proficient in GIS, ecological software, and reporting tools
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site work
