Job Description

The State of Idaho is hiring a Groundwater Hydrology Specialist for the Underground Injection Control Program in Boise, ID. The role involves reviewing and preparing permit applications, managing federal grants, and providing technical reviews on hydrologic reports. Candidates should have a degree in a physical science and relevant experience in hydrology or hydrogeology. Preferred skills include GIS knowledge and technical assistance experience.

We are seeking a qualified Groundwater Hydrology Specialist to join our team in the Underground Injection Control (UIC) Program within the Ground Water Protection Section.
Job Summary:

This position involves reviewing permit applications, preparing permits for deep injection and inventory shallow injection wells, developing and submitting federal grant applications, and managing grant funds. The successful candidate will also participate in technical committees involved in developing solutions to water resource problems and provide technical review and generate comments on the hydrologic aspects of technical reports and permit/license applications.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review permit applications and prepare permits for deep injection and inventory shallow injection wells
• Develop and submit federal grant applications, manage grant funds, and ensure compliance with federal regulations
• Provide technical review and generate comments on the hydrologic aspects of technical reports and permit/license applications
• Participate on technical committees involved in developing solutions to water resource problems
Requirements:

To be considered for this position, applicants must have a college degree in a physical science such as hydrology, hydrogeology, geology, water resources, environmental science, geophysics, soils, or engineering. Additionally, they must have either successful completion of at least two, one-semester college courses in hydrology or hydrogeology or at least one year of directly related experience in hydrology or hydrogeology.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge and/or experience applying Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
• Sound understanding of hydrogeology
• Experience providing technical assistance to an interdisciplinary team working on resource management issues
• Experience writing and editing computer scripts and programs
