Greenhouse Technician

Bayview Flowers Ltd. is seeking a Greenhouse Technician to ensure optimal operation of greenhouse assets, focusing on efficiency and maintenance of systems like irrigation and automation. Responsibilities include monitoring performance, training staff, and maintaining SOPs. Candidates should be mechanically inclined, able to work independently, and possess problem-solving skills. This is a full-time, in-person position in Canada with a pay range of CA$27–CA$30 per hour.

About the position:

This position is responsible for ensuring the physical assets in the Greenhouse are operating at total capacity, with minimal downtime, and under good repair with a specific focus on optimal planting efficiency, spacing and photo grading automation. This can also include, but is not limited to, irrigation systems, greenhouse automated control system(s) and boilers.

Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor efficiency against set targets and adjust for optimal machine performance.
• Train and supervise machine operators to ensure safe and efficient work.
• Create and maintain SOP’s for each machine.
• Ensure preventative maintenance is conducted on necessary equipment
• May be required to perform other facility maintenance duties and functions depending on the department’s needs.

Credentials and Qualifications:
• Mechanically inclined and physically able
• Proficient in working with computer systems
• Ability to work independently in a large commercial greenhouse environment.
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and projects efficiently.
• Possess problem-solving and logical decision-making abilities
• Electrical and plumbing knowledge preferred

• Ability to work rotationally to ensure weekend and after-hours coverage.
• Ability to train and supervise the machine operations team/staff.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $27.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
