Job Description

Nobell Foods is seeking a part-time Greenhouse Tech in South San Francisco, CA, to assist in the operations of a large greenhouse. Responsibilities include plant care, maintenance tasks, and data entry while adhering to USDA guidelines. Candidates should possess a high school diploma, be reliable, and able to work in physically demanding environments. The position offers flexible hours, with pay ranging from $16.00 to $20.00 per hour.

About the role:

As a part-time greenhouse tech, you will be supporting the day-to-day operations of our 20,000+ sq ft greenhouse located in Gilroy, California. Each day you will be aiding the greenhouse team through cleaning, maintaining plants, and conducting routine tasks following strict and detailed protocols.

Responsibilities:
• Help the team with general care of our 6,000+ plants, such as staking, trimming, trellising, and more.
• General greenhouse tasks such as filling pots with soil, cleaning dead plant material from benches, sweeping, cleaning drains, washing pots, and maintaining greenhouse sanitation.
• Helping the team with IPM through counting sticky cards, putting out beneficial insects, and reporting problems such as disease and pests to management.
• Data entry tasks related to counting pods, insects, disposal of regulated plant material, and more.
• Responsible for handling of regulated plants and plant materials following USDA guidelines.

Required Skills and Experience:
• Have at minimum a highschool diploma or equivalent
• You enjoy and work effectively in a team setting. Punctual, efficient and on task.
• You are reliable, resourceful, a quick learner, and can multitask.
• You have computer skills, including data entry into google sheets or excel
• Ability to work productively with minimal supervision.
• You are comfortable working in hot, humid, and/or other extreme environments.
• Ability to physically lift and carry at least 50 lbs and stand/walk for long periods of time.
• Ability to do repetitive tasks that can be physically demanding and work in ergonomically demanding environments.
• Ability to work 20 hours per week between the hours of 7:30am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. Hours can be flexible.

Nice to Have:
• Have worked in a greenhouse before and are familiar with the procedures, practices, materials and equipment used in a greenhouse environment.

Physical Requirements for the Essential Functions of this Role:
• You are comfortable working in a wide range of temperatures, humidity, and sunlight and/or other extreme temperatures.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to do repetitive tasks that can be physically demanding such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, crouching, squatting, kneeling, and reaching for extended periods of time.
• Exposure to pollen, allergens, chemicals, cleaning products, spaces with no air conditioning, loud noises, uneven ground, dust, and/or strong odors is to be expected.

Closing:

The pay range is currently between $16.00 to $20.00 in hourly compensation. Within the range, individual pay is determined by many factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
