Greenhouse Nursery Worker

Jplant is hiring a Greenhouse Nursery Worker for a short-term contract in Toronto, ON. Responsibilities include assisting with plant selection, order preparation, packing, and maintaining an organized workspace. Candidates should have horticulture experience, be detail-oriented, and able to work independently or in a team. A valid G class driver's license is preferred. There may be opportunities for contract extension based on performance.
While this position is a short-term contract, there may be possibilities for full-time or part-time extension based on the individual’s performance and the needs of the company following the shipping period. Additionally, we are a growing company and always seeking hard working individuals to join our team in the future.

Job Description

Work with a small nursery team

Assist with plant pick up and select strongest plants for sale

Assist with order dispatch

Keep each order separate and organized

Prepare orders for packaging

Packing each order into boxes for shipping

Cleaning and organizing workstations

Pruning

Weeding

Qualifications

Education and/or experience in horticulture or a related field is an asset

Quick learner and able to work in a fast-paced environment

Responsible and able to work independently

Organized and strong attention to detail

Good communication skills and ability to work in a small team

· Able to complete tasks efficiently and on schedule

Able to understand and follow directions exactly as given

Attention to detail

Health and Safety mindfulness

Valid G class drivers license (or able to arrange reliable transportation to the nursery)

Fitness: A variety of tasks require workers to stay in one position over long periods of time: standing, kneeling, sitting. Able to safely lift 40lbs on occasion, and possibly participate in small construction projects.

Ability to work outdoors in hot summer weather and rain.
