Job Description

The City of New York is seeking a Green Infrastructure Program Coordinator for the NYC Department of Environmental Protection. This role involves managing the design review of green stormwater management projects, ensuring compliance with DOT standards, and coordinating with various city agencies. Candidates should have relevant experience and a degree or equivalent. Preferred skills include proficiency in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and strong organizational and writing abilities.
The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and stormwater, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP's water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the system’s 2,000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the city.

DEP is currently seeking a Green Infrastructure Program Coordinator to support NYC Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). implementation of the NYC Green Infrastructure Program. The NYC Green Infrastructure Program is a multiagency effort led by DEP to implement distributed green stormwater infrastructure to improve water quality in NYC waterways and enhance stormwater resiliency, supporting NYC regulatory requirements and strategic plans including: 2012 Consent Order to reduce Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs) and NYC Long Term Control Plans (LTCPs), NYC Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permit, DEP’s Strategic Plan, NYC Stormwater Resiliency Plan, the 2021 New Normal Report, Rainfall Ready NYC, OneNYC and Adapt

NYC goals. The successful candidate will report directly to NYC DOT’s Green Infrastructure Unit in the Division of Budget and Capital Program Management. In this capacity, the candidate will be managing the design review of a portfolio of right-of-way green infrastructure stormwater management projects and ensuring their progression through all required steps.
Responsibilities
• Reviewing technical drawings and design details to ensure they comply with DOT street design standards and guidelines.
• Creating maps to provide information on proposed green infrastructure projects.
• Distributing design submissions, liaising with other DOT units, and coordinating DOT agency responses from numerous divisions.
• Updating and tracking project schedules.
• Responsible for communication with DEP, other city agencies and stakeholders to ensure that the projects are comprehensively developed.
• Prepare reports, studies and correspondence.
• Perform other related duties.
• Stay up to date on latest guidelines and green infrastructure practices used by New York City Agencies.Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
Preferred Skills
• Excellent writing skills.
• Strong organization skills.
• Detail oriented and a commitment to ensuring both traffic safety and sustainability on city streets.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and ArcGIS.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Familiarity with Green Infrastructure techniques and technologies, DEP’s Green Infrastructure Plan and Annual Reports.
• Familiarity with the New York City Highway Rules.
• Team player, able to work with multiple senior managers and staff teams to help achieve the strategic vision of the Department.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
