Job Description

Imperial College London is hiring a Grantham Institute Fellow to lead independent research and teaching in climate science and adaptation. The role involves contributing to the Institute's mission of promoting a sustainable, zero-carbon future. Candidates should possess a PhD in climate science, have teaching experience, and demonstrate a collaborative nature. About the role:

At the Grantham Institute – Climate Change and the Environment, our mission is to lead on world-class research, policy, training, and innovation that supports effective action on climate change.

We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow who will support this mission, undertaking research and teaching in climate science and/or climate impacts and adaptation.

What you would be doing:

You will carry out, plan and lead an independent high-quality programme of research in your area, with your research contributing towards the Institute’s vision of a sustainable, resilient, zero-carbon future. You will also lead on teaching of modules in your topic area on the Grantham Institute postgraduate taught courses and other educational programmes.

You will be surrounded by a supportive community, dedicated to make meaningful impact.

What we are looking for:

To be successful, you will have:
• A PhD in climate science or discipline looking at climate change impacts and adaptation, or equivalent.
• A developing national reputation and expertise in your field.
• A portfolio of research publications, confirming national standing (commensurate with career stage).
• Experience of teaching on climate in higher education and familiarity with a variety of strategies to promote and assess learning.
• A collaborative nature and the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships, both internally and externally.
• Ability to communicate well, conveying ideas and concepts clearly and effectively.

This is a full-time, fixed-term contract for 36 months initially with possible extension.
