EnviroCentre is seeking a Graduate Consultant Ecologist in Scotland to support their ecology team with habitat surveys, ecological appraisals, and impact assessments. The role involves survey planning, data management, and report writing. Candidates should have a degree in Ecology or related fields and some survey experience. The position offers hybrid working, training opportunities, and a supportive environment for career development.
EnviroCentre Limited has an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Consultant Ecologist to join a highly motivated team to assist in the delivery of protected species, habitat survey, ecological appraisal and impact assessment projects.

You will be supporting our ecology team, whilst being mentored and line managed by experienced ecologists. You will have the opportunity to apply and develop your existing knowledge, learn new skills, gain experience in survey planning, design, delivery of project tasks, health and safety and professional consulting.

What you will do

The role will include but not be limited to the following elements:
• Preparation of survey methods and compilation of ecological desk studies;
• Assistance in the delivery of habitat (UKHAB) and protected species surveys;
• Assisting as Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) to deliver onsite ecological auditing mainly on infrastructure projects in Scotland;
• Data management and mapping using infield technology and GIS;
• Contributing to/producing high quality ecological reports;
• Understanding and writing risk assessments for site work; and
• Supporting office management and company processes.

Your Skills And Experience
• Educated to degree level in Ecology or a related discipline;
• Some experience in habitat (UKHAB) and protected species surveys;
• Qualifying/or eligible member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management.
• An understanding of current environmental legislation, policy trends and ecological guidance;
• Good breath of knowledge in ecological areas with drive and enthusiasm to develop consultancy skills on the job;
• Good verbal and written communication skills;
• Good time management skills;
• Skills in GIS would be advantageous;
• The flexibility to conduct survey of nocturnal/crepuscular species, and/ or away from home as required; and
• A full, clean, UK driving licence NB: Driving is a perquisite of the role.
