Job Description

Hawaii Pacific University is seeking a Graduate Assistant in Sustainability to teach graduate courses and oversee semester activities, including syllabus creation, class instruction, student evaluation, and grading. Candidates must hold a Master's degree in a related field, with a Doctorate preferred. The position requires work on-site in Honolulu, HI, with classes scheduled during days, evenings, and weekends. Compensation is $1,050 per credit for Masters and $1,150 for Doctorate.

Adjunct - Sustainability
Job Summary : Teach graduate courses related to the field of sustainability. Compensation : $1,050 per credit - Masters, $1,150 per credit - Doctorate
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications : Master's degree in systems thinking or other fields related to sustainability.
Desired Qualifications
Doctorate degree in systems thinking or other fields related to sustainability.
Experience teaching university students in a diverse environment.
Other Qualifications
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance is not available for this position.
Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU's winter break, if necessary.
Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.
Able to teach classes scheduled during days, evenings, and weekends.
Able to teach classes at multiple locations on Oahu.
Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilize excellent time and stress management skills.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions
Course preparation (20%): Develop a course syllabus available to students two-weeks prior to start of semester, Prepare course website using Blackboard.
Course maintenance and delivery (30%): Update course website weekly and post assignments in a timely manner, Prepare and deliver course lesson plans weekly and on time.
Student communication and assistance (25%): Respond to student inquiries in a timely manner (within 48 hours of receiving inquiry), Give students appropriate feedback and guidance to assist in learning.
Student assessment and grading (25%): Return student assignments within an appropriate time frame, Submit student grades by both the required midterm and final due dates.
Performs other related duties as appropriate (5%): Actively participate as an effective member of the team by completing assigned duties, accepting additional assignments or reassignments.
