Job Description
Johns Manville seeks a Global Environmental Programs Leader in Denver, CO, to enhance compliance with environmental regulations and improve global environmental performance. Responsibilities include developing strategies, managing technical programs, and ensuring ISO 14001 certification. Pay Range
$127,800.00-$175,700.00 Annual
This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.
The Global Environmental Programs Leader will lead the corporate technical environmental teams by developing programs to facilitate JM's compliance with environmental protection regulations and policies. This position must have a proven ability to manage programs that proactively improve JM's global environmental performance, maintain JM's ISO 14001 certifications, and accurately report on environmental metrics and environmental-related sustainability actions.
Your Day to Day:
• Develop the vision, strategies, and objectives to maintain and improve JM's global environmental protection functions and assure alignment of such plans with the executive leadership team, division operations management, and the leaders of corporate research & development and division innovation and commercialization teams.
• Identify key environmental goals, targets, and performance indicators to measure progress and impact.
• Demonstrate and develop personal environmental expertise and the expertise of professional team members to provide JM with a strategic vision of evolving global environmental requirements, and together with JM Legal, track and be involved in regulatory initiatives, legal actions, and market trends that relate to the businesses of JM globally.
• Direct and lead professional team members on all technical programs and core processes for regulatory compliance, assessment of environmental impacts, liability avoidance, remediation projects, assessment, and permitting of existing or new technologies or processes having major importance to the worldwide businesses of JM.
• Direct the strategies for obtaining operational and construction permits, ensuring adequate representation of JM during negotiations with regulatory agencies on permit conditions, variances, remediation requirements, or other environmental aspects.
• Implement comprehensive education plans and career coaching for corporate environmental personnel and individuals to develop, maintain, and expand understanding of technologies applicable to JM's operations as well as state-of-the-art knowledge of areas of specialization in global environmental protection skills. Implement training and development activities for plant environmental personnel to ensure professional management of our facilities and a strong bench for future promotion opportunities.
• Prepare and manage Corporate Environmental operating plans and budgets.
• Implement JM's environmental audit program, conducted under the direction of Legal, to include formal and systematic reviews of facilities to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and coordinate all environmental auditing activities across the company to ensure consistency in auditing techniques and deliverables.
• Lead professional staff in proactively managing environmental issues at legacy locations to effectively analyze and communicate the environmental liability exposure incident to JM's current or historical activities.
• Perform analysis of, and propose solutions for, environmental issues in support of acquisition or divestiture transactions.
• Prepare, maintain, and update corporate procedures and templates for facility personnel to utilize for compliance purposes.
What You Bring to the Team:
• 15+ years of experience with at least a BS in a physical, biological, or engineering science.
• 3+ years of experience in a managerial role within the environmental function in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in broad role(s) as an internal or external consultant for regulatory issues.
• Experience with directing division- and plant-level strategies and compliance programs.
• Understanding of production processes and environmental controls in relation to environmental compliance and each other, including their variability, specific needs for startup/shutdown, and impact on air, water, and waste
