GHG Corporation is seeking a Broadcast Engineer for a seasonal position in McMurdo, Antarctica, during the Austral Summer 2025. The role involves technical support, maintenance, and operation of broadcasting equipment, requiring travel to remote locations. Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide technical support to broadcast facilities in repair, maintenance, installation and modification of technical broadcasting equipment.Travel to remote locations for equipment repair, work under pressure in order to meet broadcast deadlines, make decisions and take corrective action with supervision and are required to work various shifts within any 24 hour period of the week.Operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair complex electronic, computer based, optical and mechanical broadcasting systems. Repair and maintain equipment in emergency and preventative situations.Set up and operate various broadcasting equipment such as recording, video and editing equipment; check equipment for operational readiness; provide operational assistance/instruction to others as needed.Prepare and maintain various technical records and engineering logs pertaining to broadcast equipment performance and discrepancies according to regulations.Participate in all aspects of video postproduction, including audio mixing, technical direction, C.G. operation, computer editing, videotape operation and editing.Set up, maintain and operate remote production facilities, to include all engineering activities associated with remote television productions.Test and align new equipment prior to installation in broadcast facility.Set up and maintain transmission equipment for broadcast and point-to-point microwave links.All other duties as assigned.QualificationsU.S. citizenship or permanent residence is required.Associate's degree in Electronics, Broadcasting or related field AND two years experience in broadcast engineering which included equipment, repair and installation; OR, four years experience in broadcast engineering which included equipment, repair and installation; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.Knowledge of broadcast rules and regulations.Knowledge in maintenance, usage, and design of technical broadcast equipment.Skill in responding to operational/technical equipment problems.Skill in both verbal and written communication.Skill in repair of digital and computer systems.CompetenciesPerformance Management.Ethical Conduct.Thoroughness.Physical RequirementsDeployment will be required in this position. The individual in this position must successfully complete physical and dental examinations, as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica. Failure to meet these requirements may result in withdrawal of employment offer or other employment action.Complies with applicable safety, environment, health, and waste management policies and procedures.Must be able to work in possibly a stressful and cold environment with 6 months of darkness and 6 months of light.Individual must be capable of operating a standard desktop computer; must be able to lift and carry up to 10 pounds.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.Position ExpectationsThis is a full-time, seasonal position located in Antarctica.All expenses paid while on-ice; meals, lodging, medical, gear, travel to and from Antarctica.Candidate must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.Performance Period: October 2025-February 2026.We are an Equal Employment Opportunity employer as defined by the EEOC.
