Conservation Biologist Job Description

The Wildlife Trust of India is seeking a highly skilled Conservation Biologist to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting field surveys to monitor gharial populations, analyzing data using statistical methods and GIS software, and assisting in the development and implementation of conservation plans and management strategies.

About the Role:
• This role involves conducting field surveys to monitor gharial populations and analyzing data using statistical methods and GIS software.
• The successful candidate will assist in the development and implementation of conservation plans and management strategies to mitigate direct and indirect threats to Gandak gharial populations.
• You will work closely with local communities, government agencies, and conservation organizations to raise awareness about gharial conservation issues and promote community-based conservation initiatives.

Requirements:
• MSc/PG Diploma in Wildlife Science/Biology/Zoology or related fields with 2-3 years of experience in wildlife research and conservation.
• Experience in ex-situ conservation of crocodilian/testudine species is desirable.
• Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., R, SPSS) and GIS tools for spatial analysis and mapping.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including scientists, policymakers, and local communities.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
