Job Description
Role Overview


The Fundraiser is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive fundraising strategies to ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the SA Children’s Home. This role focuses on securing diversified income streams, building meaningful donor relationships, and increasing philanthropic support to advance the organisation’s mission of providing a safe, nurturing home for 44 vulnerable children.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Prepare, submit, and manage compelling funding proposals and grant applications targeting individuals, corporations, trusts, foundations, and government entities to secure financial support for the organisation’s programmes and operational needs.
• Drive philanthropic income growth, targeting between R5,000,000 – R8,000,000 annually, through diversified fundraising strategies including corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, major donors, monthly giving programmes, events, and digital campaigns.
• Develop and implement a structured donor management and stewardship system to track engagement, maintain accurate donor records, and ensure personalised communication and retention strategies.
• Manage and maintain donor databases, segmenting stakeholders by donor type (corporate, individual, foundation, CSI, HNWI), ensuring high-quality relationship management, reporting accuracy, and compliance.
• Conduct impact assessments and prepare monitoring and evaluation reports, ensuring transparency, accountability, and clear communication of outcomes to donors and stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with the Board and management team to prepare quarterly fundraising reports, budgeting projections, income forecasts, and strategic funding plans aligned with organisational growth.
• Plan and coordinate fundraising initiatives and events, including the Annual Online Auction, community outreach campaigns, corporate activations, and digital fundraising drives.
• Build and nurture relationships with high-net-worth individuals, corporate partners, and key stakeholders, identifying opportunities for long-term partnerships, sponsorships, and major gifts.
• Oversee fundraising-related communication across digital platforms, including newsletters, email campaigns, and social media, ensuring consistent messaging aligned with the organisation’s mission and brand.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and donor requirements, including B-BBEE, SED reporting, PBO regulations, and Section 18A documentation.
