Position Overview

We have an immediate opportunity for an experienced Supply Chain & ESG Expert to support a luxury textiles and accessories business renowned for its commitment to wildlife conservation and sustainability. This fractional role will fill an experience gap within the team, focusing primarily on technical and operational supply chain sustainability, managing compliance risks, leading carbon footprint initiatives, and uncovering strategic opportunities that align with the company's mission and growth trajectory. While the primary focus is technical, candidates who can contribute broadly to ESG strategy and policy development are encouraged to apply.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's ESG practices, ensuring it operates at the forefront of sustainability and responsible sourcing within the luxury consumer goods sector.

Key Responsibilities (final scope to be confirmed by the client in collaboration with candidate)

Supply Chain Sustainability & ESG Management
• Lead initiatives to identify, manage, and mitigate ESG risks, particularly concerning ethical sourcing and human rights
• Oversee the carbon footprinting and sustainability metrics within the supply chain
• Recommend and implement improvements to drive sustainable and efficient operations

Compliance, Regulation & Reporting
• Ensure compliance with relevant UK and international ESG certifications, regulations, standards, and frameworks, particularly as the business expands within/into the EU, US, and other international markets
• Develop robust ESG reporting processes to satisfy regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations
• Engage proactively with suppliers to ensure alignment with ethical trading standards and environmental best practices

Strategic Opportunity Identification
• Identify sustainability-driven opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and market differentiation
• Recommend actionable strategies to leverage ESG leadership for competitive advantage and long-term value creation

Stakeholder Engagement & Internal Capability Building
• Act as an advisor and sustainability champion within the organisation, fostering stakeholder awareness and buy-in
• Collaborate closely with leadership, operations, and marketing teams to embed sustainability practices into activities and strategic decisions
• Develop and implement clear sustainability policies and frameworks, including identifying and tracking appropriate KPIs (e.g., carbon footprint, supplier compliance, waste reduction)
• Train and mentor internal team members, effectively transferring sustainability knowledge and building internal capability for future management

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:
• 7+ years’ experience in supply chain sustainability, ESG, ethical trading, and carbon footprint analysis
• Deep knowledge of relevant certificates and frameworks (e.g., GOTS, OEKO-TEX Standard 100, BCI, Fairtrade, SMETA, GRI, CDP, SASB, SECR, TCFD)
• Demonstrable experience within textiles, fashion, and luxury consumer goods sectors
• Proven ability to lead strategic sustainability initiatives with measurable outcomes
• Strong capability in ESG communication and stakeholder engagement

Desirable:
• Experience within rapidly scaling or founder-led businesses

Who We’re Looking For

We seek an ESG and supply chain expert who is pragmatic, commercial, flexible, and able to operate effectively in a fractional, part-time engagement. You should be:
• Strategic yet hands-on, able to move seamlessly between high-level planning and detailed execution
• A strong communicator capable of influencing and guiding diverse stakeholders
• Highly adaptable and pragmatic, capable of balancing technical expertise with strategic thinking, and comfortable operating independently as well as collaboratively within a growing business
• Passionate about embedding meaningful sustainability practices within commercial environments

Equal Opportunity Statement

PulseCSO is an equal opportunity organisation. We celebrate diversity and aim to create inclusive environments for all. We understand the importance of flexible work arrangements and welcome candidates who require non-traditional work schedules.

Your unique perspective and background are valued, and we encourage you to apply.
