Sierra Pacific Industries is hiring a Forestry - Wildfire & Fuels Specialist in Eugene, OR. The role involves implementing fuels reduction projects, coordinating wildfire responses, and managing contracts. Candidates should have a degree in Forestry or Fire Science and at least 5 years of relevant experience. Our more than 6,000 employees are proud to work at our state-of-the-art sawmills and other facilities, including: manufacturing, custom wood-framed windows, fabrication, millwork, veneer, cogeneration, trucking, forestry, and other operations.We are seeking a qualified Wildfire & Fuels Specialist to assist in implementing fuels reduction projects on Company lands, support of wildfire response and coordination efforts between Company and fire response agencies and assist in implementing a joint fuel break program with the United States Forest Service across Oregon and Washington timberlands.
This position would be based at our division in Eugene, Oregon.About the PositionDevelopment, implementation, maintenance and support of fuels reduction projects on Company landsRelationship enhancement with local fire agency representativesSupport and coordination of Company on wildfire response, engagement and trainingAdministration contracts, including oversight of mechanical harvesting and fuels reduction contractorsProject area flagging and layoutContractor development, scheduling and planningMonitor quality control guidelines and ensure contract complianceCollection, maintenance and reporting of production and cost dataEffectively and professionally interact with private contractors, company employees, federal, state and local agenciesWork in support of the Company's goals and objectivesWork independently and safely in mountainous terrain and all-weather conditionsQualifications Degree in Forestry, Fire Science or significantly equivalent experience is requiredMinimum of 5 years of experience that includes: harvest or fuels reduction supervision, contract administration, and general forestry and fire related workUnderstanding of harvesting, fuels reduction and fire operationsProficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and WordExcellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skillsProven to be a reliable self-starter with a strong work ethic and safety consciousPossess a valid driver's license and able to navigate remote areasWhy Join Our Team?
