The Forestry Sustainability Specialist at Drax will lead the compliance of local biomass sustainability for our US pellet plants, empowering you to make a real difference in sustainable biomass sourcing. You will work closely with the Sustainability Manager to oversee in-woods sustainability practices and ensure adherence to chain-of-custody procedures, fibre sourcing standards, and SBP certifications. Collaborating with industry and conservation partners, you’ll help Drax become a frontrunner in sustainable biomass.

Facilitating internal and external third-party audits.Leading in-woods field inspection audits.Conducting fiber source desk reviews for certification compliance.Managing system identification and enhancement of habitat conditions for species of concern.Overseeing compliance with state water quality Best Management Practices (BMPs) and company policies.Engaging with the forest industry, acting as the key point for SFI Implementation Committees and local conservation partnerships.Reviewing in-woods and residual supplier questionnaires to align sustainability expectations across operations.Serving as the sustainability contact for Drax's fibre procurement teams.Supporting the Sustainability Manager in maintaining the certification program.Assisting in providing information for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and annual reports.To thrive in this significant position, you will need:

A Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or a related field in Natural Resources.Applied knowledge of forest management and sourcing; experience with forest certification is a plus.Strong analytical abilities, including proficiency in Excel; familiarity with 3Log or similar data management systems and ArcGIS is beneficial.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with a collaborative approach.At Drax, our culture thrives on core beliefs that guide our actions:
