Nature School LA is seeking passionate Forest School Teachers to educate children ages 3-5 in outdoor settings across West and East Los Angeles. The role involves developing child-centered curricula, facilitating activities, and promoting a love for nature. Candidates should have relevant experience and qualifications. The position requires a commitment from March 2022 to July 2023, with hours between 27-35 per week.

Nature School LA is looking for passionate Outdoor Educators/ Forest School Teachers to support our team starting this March 2022 in West and East Los Angeles, California.
Join our team in the heart of Los Angeles. Spend time outdoors and teach young minds appreciation and love for the natural world. We work with a student-teacher ratio of 4:1 with children ages 3-5 years. Our emergent curriculum is child-centered, interest-led, inquiry driven, and educator supported. We have a healthy balance between short structured academic blocks and unstructured play time. Teachers adjust the curriculum to meet children’s varying academic and emotional needs. You will teach about the environment including math, english, science, and social-emotional learning. You will also play games, sing songs and create crafts with students.

Responsibilities include:
Develop a curriculum, execute lesson plans and lead activities
Facilitate children’s unstructured time
Communicate clearly with parents and teachers
Write a newsletter
Document daily activities
Care for materials
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor Degree, Master Degree and/or
3 or more years experience interacting with 3-5 year olds preferably in an outdoor setting
First Aid + CPR for children and adults certified or a willingness to get this certification before the start date
Comfortable with leading activities, games and songs
Familiar with nature based education and unstructured play
Have a reliable car and be able to transport and lift materials
Have a working phone
5 months commitment, March - July 2022
11 months commitment, August 2022 - July 2023
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Environmental Studies, Biology, Ecology or other sciences
Min. 12 ECE Units
Knowledge of NGSS standards
Outdoor education experience
Experience in Reggio, Montessori, and/or Waldorf teaching models
Botany and plant education
Playing an instrument is a plus

Pay: Depending on education and experience
Hours: Between 27-35 hours per week
Time: 8:30am-1:30pm and 3pm
