The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Forestry Assistant Manager for the Northeast Region. This full-time role involves managing forested areas, supervising staff and volunteers, and overseeing forest data collection and management plans. The position requires strong communication skills for collaboration with various authorities and agencies. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, and telework is not an option.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

In this position you will serve as Regional Forester responsible for the management of forested areas on public lands in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Work involves supervising professional employees and volunteers, assessing management objectives, and overseeing projects from silvicultural data collection to major road construction. You will supervise, monitor, and review the collection and compilation of forest data for long-term goals; direct and approve the development of formal management plans; and supervise the implementation of the plans considering priorities, market conditions, and established goals. Communication is key as you will also coordinate and recommend the prioritization of wildlife management timbre cuts, participate in timber sale contracts, perform a full range of supervisory duties, and coordinate work with other agency units and programs. Our team will also rely on you to meet with other state and municipal authorities and conservation agencies to discuss, coordinate, defend or promote Game Commission programs.
