The State of South Dakota is hiring an intern for Fisheries Management in Rapid City for the summer (May-August). Applicants must be current students (part-time or full-time) with at least one year of study completed. Responsibilities include assisting with fisheries surveys, inspections, and maintenance tasks. Preference is given to junior/senior students and South Dakota residents.

• APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER.

Position Description

The primary focus of this position will be assisting with fisheries management in the Black Hills and West River fisheries management areas. This may include annual standard fisheries surveys, watercraft inspections, and angler use and harvest surveys. Also, this position will assist with equipment and grounds maintenance along with other additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.

All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
