Job Description
The State of New York is hiring a Fish and Wildlife Technician 1 to support conservation efforts in managing fish and wildlife resources. Responsibilities include data collection, field surveys, assisting biologists, operating equipment, and habitat restoration. Welcome to the State of New York's Fish and Wildlife Technician 1 position! We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team and assist in the management and conservation of New York's diverse fish and wildlife resources. As a Fish and Wildlife Technician 1, you will have the opportunity to work in the field and in the laboratory, collecting and analyzing data, conducting research, and providing support to biologists and other professionals. Collect and analyze data on fish and wildlife populations, habitat conditions, and other environmental factors.
Conduct field surveys and assist with research projects related to fish and wildlife management and conservation.
Provide support to biologists and other professionals by assisting with data collection, organization, and analysis.
Operate and maintain equipment used in field and laboratory settings, including GPS devices, cameras, and sampling tools.
Monitor and document changes in fish and wildlife populations and habitat conditions.
Participate in habitat restoration and wildlife management activities, such as planting vegetation and constructing wildlife structures.
Assist with the preparation of reports, presentations, and other materials related to fish and wildlife management and conservation.
Communicate with the public, stakeholders, and other agencies to provide information and education on fish and wildlife conservation efforts.
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working in the field and laboratory.
Stay informed about current research, techniques, and regulations related to fish and wildlife management and conservation.
