Your next career opportunity
As a Future Fire Analyst, you'll play a crucial role in the ARC Mid-Career Industry Fellowship project, working closely with Victoria's leading fire management agencies. You'll analyse the effectiveness of current risk mitigation activities, assess climate change impacts, and develop innovative tools to support long-term bushfire risk management. This position offers you the opportunity to conduct cutting-edge applied research that directly influences real-world fire management strategies.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Conduct Advanced Data Analysis and Modelling: Utilise agency, university, and external data to assess risk mitigation strategies and climate change impacts on fire management activities.
• Develop Innovative Tools: Create a flexible prescribed burn prioritisation tool to enhance decision-making processes.
• Engage with Industry Experts: Lead expert elicitation workshops and collaborate regularly with agency staff to co-design and communicate project results.
• Contribute to Research Output: Publish high-impact academic papers and present findings at conferences and seminars.
You may be a great fit if:
You are a skilled researcher with a strong background in fire risk, climate change, or environmental management, possessing excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders in a multidisciplinary environment.
You may also:
• Hold a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in fire risk, climate change, environmental management, or a related field.
• Have experience with Geographic Information Systems and geospatial analysis.
• Demonstrate a track record of independent research and publications, commensurate with your experience.
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with industry partners.
• Have a strong aptitude for data analysis, modelling, and clear communication of complex information.
