Job Summary and Qualifications
The Financial Analyst assists the Environmental Sustainability team with key energy reporting functions including ensuring utilities data integrity, performing variance analysis reviews, and assisting with calculations of the company’s carbon emissions. The analyst will assist with a combination of financial reporting and operational accounting with a focus on HCA’s third-party utility bill payment system, Capturis. The analyst will be responsible for reviewing utility trends and researching outliers, providing customer service to the field operators, and ensuring the integrity of the Capturis data. This role will include analytics of Capturis data to help develop KPIs to better monitor performance and to ensure that the usage and costs are in line with prediction. The Financial Analyst will work closely with the FacilitiGroup team and other key stakeholders to research and answer financial and operational trends and results and to administer and/or perform key internal control activities. He/she also interprets, designs, and develops analysis, to solve complex operational, financial and/or accounting problems relating to facility management financial operations.
What you will do in this role:
Energy/Capturis
• Supports the AVP and the ES team in acting as organizational subject matter expert for Capturis
• Ensure exceptions and variances flagged in Capturis are worked and corrected promptly to maintain accurate service costs and usage data
• Ensure exceptions are corrected timely to ensure data integrity of HCA financial records
• Assist with performing utility usage and cost reviews
• Conduct analytics and ad hoc analysis to monitor performance and identify improvement opportunities
• Collaborate closely with key stakeholders to research and answer trends and results, and to perform key internal control activities
• Maintain accurate account and site information to ensure integrity of Capturis data
• Communicate significant issues and actions plans to both the team and to the larger Capturis user base
• Assist with performance of IT general controls around Capturis, such as managing user access
• Support monthly research into utility expense fluctuations
Emissions Reporting
• Assists with the completion of Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 carbon emissions calculations
• Ensures an effective control system supporting carbon reporting data quality standards
• Communicates carbon emission reporting performance with all stakeholders
• Stays abreast of reporting and regulatory compliance standards; supports the implementation of new disclosures and/or processes required by various organizations
Other
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with others from diverse backgrounds, skillsets, and talents, ranging from other functional area’s subject matter experts to executive leadership
• Promote efficiency and repeatability of reporting and analytical tasks, including documentation and automation as appropriate
• Takes ownership of the data standardization process and develops, maintains, and automates tools and systems to support departments monitoring and follow-up activities
• Understands Facility Management operations and technologies as well as company-wide technologies currently in place
• Drives capability maturation through process and technology enhancements
• Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support normal operations
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Strong attention to detail is required in order to ensure the accuracy and completeness of data being reported
• Ability to set priorities
• Solid knowledge of all MS Office Products, proficient in the use of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong Technical skills and knowledge of Business Objects, Essbase, SQL, and/or relational databases
• Independently identify opportunities/problems, develop recommendations/solutions, and direct execution
• Targets and achieves results, sets challenging goals, prioritizes tasks, overcomes obstacles, accepts accountability, sets standards and responsibilities, leads through change and adversity, and builds consensus when appropriate
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to create/interpret complex financial models
• Knowledge of financial management, analysis, principles and techniques
• Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills
• Understanding of the HCA/HealthTrust IT systems and environment
What qualifications you will need:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 2-4+ years’ experience in financial (reporting/operations) and/or environmental sustainability
