Job Description

Energy Dome is hiring a Financial Modeller for their grid-scale energy storage projects in Piemonte, Italy. The role involves developing financial models for long-duration energy storage, supporting investment decisions, and collaborating with various teams. Candidates should have 3-5 years of financial modelling experience, particularly in renewable energy. The position offers a chance to contribute to innovative energy solutions and the global transition to renewable energy.
Energy Dome is the owner and developer of CO2 Battery technology, a ground-breaking innovation that uses carbon dioxide in a closed-loop thermodynamic process to provide efficient, affordable long-duration energy storage (LDES) for intermittent renewables—key to enabling decarbonization of the global power system. The CO2 Battery is already proven in operation at Energy Dome’s MW-scale demonstration project in Sardinia, Italy. The company is expanding rapidly, with full-scale (20MW / 200MWh) commercial projects under construction or awarded in Italy, the United States, and India. Energy Dome has a robust pipeline across the USA, EU, UK, Australia, Chile, and other key markets.

The CO2 Battery is a standardized, modular product using off-the-shelf industrial components with established global supply chains, enabling rapid scaling and adoption in key markets. Energy Dome offers the CO2 Battery both as a technology supplier (OEM) and through an “energy storage-as-a-service” or Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model. The BOO arm is experiencing significant growth with projects in operation and a backlog of projects in development and contracting. This service caters to customers preferring long-term capacity offtake agreements with Energy Dome.

We are seeking a skilled and commercially minded Financial Modeller with 3–5 years of experience to join our Build-Own and Operate / Infrastructure team. You will develop and maintain detailed financial models for grid-scale long-duration energy storage projects, supporting investment decisions, commercial structuring, and project delivery across Europe and international markets. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of the global energy transition, supporting deployment of proprietary technology that enhances renewable integration and grid stability.
Key Responsibilities: Build, manage, and audit project finance models for utility-scale LDES projects across multiple geographies. Incorporate diverse revenue streams, including merchant trading (arbitrage, ancillary services), capacity mechanisms, and contracted revenues (e.g., tolling agreements). Support investment evaluations, project structuring, joint ventures, and fundraising activities (equity and/or debt). Collaborate with internal teams (development, commercial, legal, technical) to ensure accurate and current model inputs. Conduct scenario, sensitivity, and downside analyses to assess financial robustness under various market and regulatory conditions. Assist in preparing investment committee papers, financial presentations, and due diligence documentation. Monitor live assets and portfolios by updating models with operational data, market developments, and strategic reforecasts. Required Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field (Postgraduate qualification or CFA/ACA advantageous). 3–5 years of financial modelling experience in energy infrastructure, focusing on renewable energy or energy storage assets. Understanding of energy storage revenue streams in liberalized power markets (trading, grid services, capacity remuneration). Advanced Excel skills with experience building structured, flexible models from scratch. Commercial understanding of project risks, grid interconnection, and market entry strategies across jurisdictions. Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable working with senior stakeholders and cross-border teams. Ability to manage multiple workstreams across varying regulatory and market environments. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with energy storage projects in European or global markets (e.g., Spain, Germany, Italy, US, Australia). Familiarity with local market mechanisms, balancing services, and trading platforms. Support experience with M&A, project finance, or structured transactions. Exposure to financial model audit practices and tools like VBA, Python, or Power BI is beneficial. What We Offer: A high-impact role in a rapidly expanding business developing innovative energy storage solutions across Europe and beyond. Exposure to dynamic energy markets, diverse business models, and leading-edge project finance. Competitive salary with performance-based incentives. Opportunities for international travel and career growth in a purpose-driven team. A flexible, collaborative, and entrepreneurial working culture. #J-18808-Ljbffr
