Job Description
Solar Alternatives is seeking a full-time Field Technician for solar service in New Orleans, LA. The role involves preparing materials, installing solar systems, and maintaining safety standards. Candidates should have 2+ years of construction experience, the ability to lift heavy materials, and a clean driving record. POSITION SUMMARY:
Energy management and solar contractor with award-winning 10-year reputation in search of skilled technicians. Opportunity for career advancement with high-tech solar projects on commercial and residential buildings. This is a growth position that will provide training and advancement on new technologies such as Tesla batteries, commercial & utility scale solar installations, and solar thermal systems. Prospective employees should have an interest and awareness in solar energy, and be prepared to work as a team to reach production goals.
This is a full-time position. Must have clean driving record, accountability, and the ability to learn quickly and provide attention to detail.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Preparation of materials and tools for upcoming projects
Roof installation layout, measurement and planning
Follow company and manufacturer procedures for safety, installation, and maintenance
Materials handling and lifting
Care and upkeep of tools, vehicles, ladders, shop floor and other resources
Preparation and cleanup of jobsite and roof workspace
REQUIREMENTS:
2+ years construction experience at height
Able to lift 50+ lbs and work four seasons in outdoor environment
Experience with 40'+ extension ladders and corresponding safety rules
Safety training and safety-oriented mindset
Basic professional-grade electrical and carpentry hand tools
Good mechanical intuition and attention to detail
Reliable transportation to office and clean driving record
Pre-employment and regular substance abuse screenings
Ability to receive and follow verbal and written instruction
Ability to perform quality work in a fast-paced environment
35-50 hours per week typical
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Solar PV and/or roofing installation experience
Roofing, electrical and/or solar certification
Roofing and/or electrical experience
OSHA 10 safety training and certification
BENEFITS:
Compensation $18-25 per hour based on experience
Hands on and scheduled training from industry experts
