Job Description
Oklahoma Environmental Services, Inc. is seeking a Field Technician I/Heavy Equipment Operator in Oklahoma City, OK. The role involves outdoor environmental remediation tasks, data collection, and operating machinery. Responsibilities include groundwater sampling, equipment maintenance, and compliance with safety regulations. The technician works in a team setting under supervision and must possess basic computer skills and a valid driver's license. Travel and long shifts may be required.
Field Operations entails executing those tasks and assignments associated with collecting data away from the office environment, overseeing the work of colleagues or contractors away from the office environment, and the performance of specific environmental duties with the express purpose of meeting the requirements of staff project managers. Most tasks and assignments are delivered in the form of “Field Work Orders”.The Environmental Field Technician I is primarily responsible for conducting environmental remediation services, groundwater remediation, site investigations, and inspecting and operating machinery and equipment. The Environmental Field Technician reports to the Field Operations Supervisor and is overseen by the Field Operations Manager. This position primarily works in an outdoor environment throughout all four seasons. Compliance with federal and state safety and hazard regulations from Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is required.Field Technician I generally works in a team setting with a more senior technician, specialist, or project manager. Tasks assigned for independent work include:Works with more senior staff for direction and trainingAccountabilityEnsures tasks given by senior staff are completedTake quality notes in the fieldPurposeComplete work as instructedLearn new skills/ gain experienceProjects completed with minimal issuesWillingness to participateProblem SolvingRESPONSIBILITIESComplete directives of Field Work Orders submitted by Project Managers and/or Prime Contractors (i.e. surveying, gauging, etc.)Complete data collection and deliver timely to appropriate entities (project manager, laboratory, prime contractor, shipping provider, etc.)Sample of groundwater and/or soil during various scopes of workEngage in monitoring well development, locating, and/or pluggingComplete disposal activities for purge water and drill cuttingsCalibrate and maintain field instruments (PID, FID, YSI, interface probes, pH/DO meters)Equipment and machinery mobilization and demobilization (including basic inspections)Operate and maintain small equipment (Bobcat, Forklift, etc.)Operate Excavator and Heavy equipment. (Backhoe, Front End Loader, etc.)Coordinate with Field Operations Supervisor to order necessary field suppliesInstall new remediation equipment (i.e., pumps, tanks, hoses, fitting, etc.)Install and operate remediation systems with basic oversightPerform regularly scheduled operation and maintenance of mechanical systemsTroubleshoot mechanical remediation systemsGeneral warehouse upkeep and maintenanceSchedule vehicle maintenance on company vehicle (oil changes, tire replacement, alignments…)Other duties as assignedREQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
