Job Description
Oklahoma Environmental Services is seeking a Field Technician I/Heavy Equipment Operator in Oklahoma City, OK. The role involves conducting environmental remediation services, groundwater monitoring, and operating machinery outdoors. The technician will work under the supervision of the Field Operations Supervisor and is responsible for completing field work orders, data collection, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Experience in environmental assessments and heavy equipment operation is preferred.

JOB SUMMARY
&
Field Operations entails executing those tasks and assignments associated with collecting data away from the office environment, overseeing the work of colleagues or contractors away from the office environment, and the performance of specific environmental duties with the express purpose of meeting the requirements of staff project managers. Most tasks and assignments are delivered in the form of “Field Work Orders”.
&
The Environmental Field Technician I is primarily responsible for conducting environmental remediation services, groundwater remediation, site investigations, and inspecting and operating machinery and equipment. The Environmental Field Technician reports to the Field Operations Supervisor and is overseen by the Field Operations Manager. This position primarily works in an outdoor environment throughout all four seasons. Compliance with federal and state safety and hazard regulations from Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is required.

Field Technician I generally works in a team setting with a more senior technician, specialist, or project manager. Tasks assigned for independent work include:
• Groundwater Monitoring
• Disposal
• Tank Removals
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Complete directives of Field Work Orders submitted by Project Managers and/or Prime Contractors (i.e. surveying, gauging, etc.)
• Complete data collection and deliver timely to appropriate entities (project manager, laboratory, prime contractor, shipping provider, etc.)
• Sample of groundwater and/or soil during various scopes of work
• Engage in monitoring well development, locating, and/or plugging
• Complete disposal activities for purge water and drill cuttings
• Complete surface restoration during site closure activities
• Calibrate and maintain field instruments (PID, FID, YSI, interface probes, pH/DO meters)
• Equipment and machinery mobilization and demobilization (including basic inspections)
• Operate and or train to test to operate (Vacuum Extraction Rig & Probe Rig operators)
• Operate and maintain small equipment (Bobcat, Forklift, etc.)
• Operate Excavator and Heavy equipment. (Backhoe, Front End Loader, etc.)
• Coordinate with Field Operations Supervisor to order necessary field supplies
• Install new remediation equipment (i.e., pumps, tanks, hoses, fitting, etc.)
• Install and operate remediation systems with basic oversight
• Perform regularly scheduled operation and maintenance of mechanical systems
• Troubleshoot mechanical remediation systems
• General warehouse upkeep and maintenance
• Schedule vehicle maintenance on company vehicle (oil changes, tire replacement, alignments…)
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS
&
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Detail oriented with a strong understanding of systems and processes
• Valid Driver’s License with CDL preferred.
• Operate Excavator and Heavy Equipment.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook)
• Willingness to travel, work long shifts and stay overnight away from home
• Team player with an ability to work alone or in a group
• Ownership of responsibilities before, during, and after fieldwork
• General problem-solving skills
• Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills
• Flexibility to changes in the work environment
• 1 to 3+ years field experience minimum
Teamwork
• Participate in team planning, status, and other meetings
• Participate in team functions as applicable
• Participate in Safety Training programs
Client Relations
• Represent the company in a positive way at all times
• Be courteous of others
• Unless advised otherwise, typically direct client queries to project managers to respond

Work Environment
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
• Required travel can be up to 75% within the state of Oklahoma

Licenses/Industry Standards
&
• Current 40-hour HAZWOPER with Annual 8-hour Refresher or ability to obtain before hire date. (We pay for the training course and or Refresher)
• Class A CDL
• Advise supervisor of training needs
• Maintain the appropriate CEUs
• Maintain licenses
