Job Description
Sungrow Power Supply Co., Ltd. is hiring a Field Service Technician for Energy Storage Solutions in Sonoma, CA. The role involves leading field engineering assignments, commissioning battery storage systems, conducting preventive maintenance, troubleshooting solar inverters, and collaborating with engineering teams. The technician will also develop service procedures, assist in training, and communicate with customers and other departments to optimize solar plant operations.

The Position:
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Field Service Technician for Energy Storage Solutions to join our fast-paced service team. Reporting to the Field Service Supervisor, you will be a pivotal technical resource, providing support to sales teams across commercial, industrial, and utility-scale sectors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead complex field engineering assignments for Battery Storage and PV applications.
• Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning of Battery storage systems (AC & DC coupled) and solar inverters, ensuring milestones are met for utility-scale customers.
• Oversee and execute Preventive Maintenance projects as necessary.
• Engage in various engineering tasks related to the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of central and string solar inverters.
• Perform electrical and electronic troubleshooting and testing of solar inverters and components in the field or lab, utilizing PQA and oscilloscopes as needed.
• Investigate and resolve issues impacting solar plants, such as DC arrays grid faults and inverter design challenges.
• Provide constructive feedback to the engineering team for potential mechanical and electrical design enhancements.
• Lead software and hardware upgrade projects, effectively communicating technical scopes to customers.
• Collaborate with customer EMS/SCADA engineers for systems communication and parameter setup.
• Develop field service procedures for troubleshooting and maintenance as required.
• Participate in the creation of training materials for customers as requested by the Training Manager.
• Investigate alternative components for field use.
• Coordinate with R&D engineering in China for troubleshooting support as needed.
• Take charge of particular projects such as upgrades and commissioning.
• Perform a range of field service tasks and communicate effectively with Factory Engineering and customers' solar plant engineers.
• Work in close collaboration with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management teams to optimize solar plant operations.
• Assist in repair activities within the Service Center.
• Prepare, deliver, and submit comprehensive field reports to customers and management.
• Support technical proposal development, offering insights on content and effort associated with proposed work scopes.
• Conduct site visits, perform experimental investigations, analyze engineering challenges, propose solutions, and provide recommendations.
Minimum Requirements:
• 7+ years of overall engineering experience.
• 3 years of experience with Battery Storage systems and 2 years with solar inverters.
• Proficiency with test equipment and hand tools is essential.
• Strong customer service, problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to meticulously adhere to instructions and established procedures/SOPs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Knowledge of OSHA, NSPA70A, and Electrical Safety standards.
Education or Desired License and Certificates:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
• Experience in the renewable energy industry is required.
• Experience with power electronics is essential.

Travel:
• Travel is required for over 80% of the role.
Work Location and Status:
• Full-time position located in the San Francisco, CA area.
• No visa/legal sponsorship is available.

• Compensation will be based on experience.

For candidates located in California, Colorado, New York, and Washington, the anticipated annual base pay for this role ranges from $36 - $40 per hour. This compensation range does not include additional benefits or compensation components that may be applicable. Salary is contingent upon various factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, education, location, and other relevant aspects of the role.
